Anthony has more than 25 years of experience in software engineering, beginning with the web hosting boom in the mid-’90s, which eventually led to a career dedicated to advancing Software-Defined Telecommunications.

Anthony was the original founder and author of an Open-Source Software-Defined Telecommunications platform called FreeSWITCH, created in 2005. Today, the FreeSWITCH platform is used as a critical component by enterprises worldwide, including Zoom|Phone, Five9, Amazon Connect, Vonage, and Dialpad.

With the promise of 5G, the Internet became increasingly reliable for bi-directional communication. In late 2017, Anthony founded SignalWire together with a team of the best minds in the industry. The goal of SignalWire is to make communication and programmability seamless between all devices with Software-Defined Telecom.

SignalWire vastly simplifies otherwise complex operations and infrastructure requirements. With SignalWire, embedding telecommunications services into any existing organization becomes viable and speeds up any existing initiative in an era where go-to-market is critical. Its investors include the founders of Zoom, Yahoo and Barracuda Networks, T-Mobile ventures, Deutsche Telekom, STORM Ventures, and P7 Ventures.

Resilient Voice on the Ocean

Inmarsat operate satellite broadband services (Global Xpress, GX, and BGAN) that is used onboard marine vessels. Fast kernel-level SFU with RTPengine

 While RTPengine has traditionally been used mainly as a media proxy for one-to-one SIP calls, its latest versions include features that enable it to fork media to multiple destinations, allowing it to be used as SFU, conferencing service, SIPREC SRC, LI gateway, and more. These new features can be used in conjunction with its already existing feature set, which most notably include a custom Linux kernel module to facilitate high-performance and low-latency packet forwarding, as well as WebRTC bridging and audio transcoding. I’m a control freak

I’m a control freak. And you should be too!

Building the first version of Broadcaster.VC was _easy_ (or at least the RTC portion of it was…) but ultimately it was a proof of concept that more than a few close colleagues and friends could use. It was actually still quite difficult to run end to end and ultimately that’s the pain prospective customers faced. Becoming a control freak allowed us to get past those problems and gain traction with potential customers quicker. Bio

Don’t end up like me!

Leading up to ClueCon 2021, there was non stop work, trying to be perfect and trying to please my boss while at the same time going out on my end. It all came crashing down with a hospital experience that I wish I did not have. I slowly creeped back and ended up there again. I have since made changes to my health and I want this talk to serve as a warning to others that everything can be replaced except a healthy working body. Evan has over a decade of deep experience with the telecommunications industry, including both executive business and technical expertise with traditional wireless MNOs/MVNOs and WebRTC/VoIP OSS. He has published patents covering both hardware and software design and is a frequent presenter at realtime/IoT conferences covering aspects such as scalable SaaS deployments, best business practices, and utilization of machine learning models in a realtime setting.

As CTO at RingPlus, Evan helped create and grow the MVNO from a blue sky project to 120k+ mobile users spread throughout the United States. This included the in-house creation of all platforms and systems from carrier integration through deployment, billing, and customer service.

As the lead on Product Research & Development, he was also instrumental in innovating a number of high profile business product offerings, including Telecom-as-a-Service (TaaS) MVNE enablement, in-call voice translation (in 2013), FluidCall (seamless legacy wireless to WiFi handoff), and innovations in telecom billing models.
