Anthony Minessale is the co-founder and CEO of SignalWire and the creator and principal author of FreeSWITCH, the open-source, carrier-grade telephony engine he created in 2005. In the two decades since, he has architected and built a substantial portion of its codebase, and remains one of its most active contributors today. FreeSWITCH became the substrate beneath much of the world's real-time communications: Zoom, Vonage, Five9, Amazon Connect, and most CPaaS providers run on it. At SignalWire he wrote the AI kernel that runs voice AI orchestration inside the media engine itself. Drawing on decades in the field, he has set out to change how communications are built and consumed: one governed platform that unifies contact center (CCaaS), unified communications (UCaaS), and programmable APIs (CPaaS), with extensive work productizing AI as a controllable, production-grade capability rather than a bolt-on. He has been building real-time communications infrastructure for more than two decades.
